The girls had swim lessons this summer. Clara was SUPER excited to be old enough to participate this time around.
Clara had a GREAT first day. The second day of the eight sessions, she cried and yelled the whole time. She finished out the hour lesson crying. We went home, regrouped, made a plan for her to be successful, and she had six GREAT lessons after that.
Part of the plan was for her to get there early enough that she got some “free” warm up time in the water and pick out a water toy. She did really well.
At the end of each beginner three year old class, they played “Ring Around the Roses”…..Ring around the roses, water up our noses, splish, splash, splish splash, we all fall down! It was the highlight of the lesson.
Clara worked on being comfortable in the water, holding her mouth under water, blowing bubbles, floating on her stomach, floating on her back, entering the water independently, kicking while on her stomach and jumping in the water.
Ruby was moved up to the level one group.
Ruby worked on holding her breath under water, swimming under the water, swimming with a correct freestyle stroke, pushing off the wall in a streamline. Those things all sound really big. She basically worked on swimming under water and not holding her nose.
She got along well with her instructors and did everything they asked her to do even if she was scared.
On the last day of the lesson, the staff turned on the big water slide. The last time that Ruby was in swim lessons, she was too scared to go down the slide. This time she was excited to go down with one of her instructors.
Both girls had a great swim lesson sessions!
