What You Lookin’ At?

Not to bore you with my 100’s of pictures of the same set of turkeys, but they are here. The girls and I watch them all day long. This is the time of year that they come and hang out in our area of the ranch. We watch them every evening as they hunt bugs, fight over apples dropped from the trees, as they get ready to roost, listen to them “talk” to their babies, etc. They have been good entertainment. Those babies are SO much bigger now.

The elk have also been coming down. The bigger bull (he’s a 6×6) in the picture has just started bugling in the evenings. What started as a little group of 25 or so, has increased to about 100. In the next month the herd will be in the 300’s.

That deer. He’s just goofy. In fact, we girls call him “goofy”. The tines are growing out and pushing his ears down. He’s just strange. He comes down to eat in the pasture in front of the house every evening. This picture was when he was still in velvet. He still looks just as goofy.

The last picture is horrible. I just took it tonight. There wasn’t enough light and I wasn’t patient enough to get good settings. It’s a horrible, blurry picture of a hummingbird hawk moth. We first saw one when the lilacs were blooming in May. We now have two that visit my flowers in the evenings. They are used to us and settle back in to eating when we come around them. They have also been a great entertainment in the evenings.

Those are some main things that we’ve been looking at.
